Landscape of Hope, 2015
Acrylic on canvas
Location: UPC Lobby
Landscape of Hope was inspired by the rolling farm hills of Central Pennsylvania and the endless winding roads we travel. The changes in the landscape are beautiful each season but nature seems especially forceful in spring, always pushing forward. My experience painting the landscape is an emotional response rather than documenting a specific view.
Landscape of Hope is an invention based on many small studies I painting outside. The foreground and background in the paintings are abstracted and compressed into a flattened perspective suggesting three glimpses and a cyclical view of time.

Beneath the Surface, 2016
Mixed media fiber arts
Location: Outside the Anteroom in the Ted P. Junker Auditorium
My intentions was to present a natural world of beauty, complexity, and diversity. I made a 3-layer base, quilted the layers together and bound the edges. I made each of the coral reef elements, most of which represent real creatures. The ground is quilted and the elements were constructed using a multitude of fiber arts techniques.
Secret Garden, 2016
Mixed media fiber arts
Location: UPC Radiology Clinic
The walled garden is a world hidden to all except to the creatures who reside there and the one human who tends it as evidenced by the shovel leaning against the side of the gazebo. The garden is a magical place where squirrels and mice converse and a hungry frog fishes for his dinner. It is a place of peace and harmony, an atmosphere essential to those in need of healing.
