Infusion Therapy team members attend the unveiling of their new collaborative art installation in Infusion Therapy in the Penn State Cancer Institute. Artist Aya Kinoshita points out the areas in this mosaic that they themselves created. The goose, a symbol of migration and renewal, represents the journey on which patients embark during their treatment. The flowing colors signify life’s constant movement, while the mosaic itself embodies the diverse pieces that come together.
For these community-building projects for clinical units, a professional teaching artist leads mini art workshops on the unit, then takes the small pieces home to create a large artwork to symbolize the work of the unit. The piece is installed on the unit as a daily reminder of the beauty of and appreciation for their work.

Thanks to philanthropic gifts, we have three more collaborative art projects in motion to be completed this fall. Seven units are on the waiting list for collaborative art projects for which we aspire to identify funds in the next year.
