Bluechair, As Per Usual, & Safely Endangered – Episodic Relatable-Style Comics

Another week has gone by, which means it’s time for another blog post. To be honest, this week’s post caught me off guard, and I was unsure what to write about for the past two days (I was also trying really hard to catch up on Tower of God which I’ll have to postpone for now). I tried to reread some completed WEBTOONs, but I don’t have the time to finish them before Friday. So for today, I chose to write about the WEBTOONs that don’t really tell a full story but are more episodic, slice-of-life, and autobiographical in a…

Tower of God – This One’s a Doozy

Spring break really came and went, and for the past week, I’ve been catching up on a WEBTOON that I haven’t read in about two years. It is also the one I’ll be writing about today: Tower of God. Tower of God is an action fantasy WEBTOON written by SIU (his Twitter) and has gained tremendous popularity on the website. Beginning all the way back on June 2014 (and still ongoing now, but currently on hiatus), each episode of Tower of God has received over 50,000 likes and many have exceeded the previous 99,999 likes limit. With over 3.3 million…

How to Become a Dragon – A Tale of Enemies Tied by Fate

Happy Spring Break, everyone! If there ever is a time to start reading WEBTOON, a weeklong break is definitely not a bad opportunity. The WEBTOON I’m talking about today is How to Become a Dragon, by eon (who is quite well-known as a WEBTOON creator). It is a relatively new series, as the first episode came out in April 2020 and is still currently updated every Saturday morning. Due to the author’s popularity, How to Become a Dragon had a strong start and now has over 20 million views with a 9.77/10 rating. Though viewership is slowly dwindling, it still…

Hooky – A Fantastical Fun Adventure!

Happy February! The WEBTOON we’re talking about this week is Hooky, created by Míriam Bonastre. Hooky is a very fantastical tale, full of references and common tropes of fairytales. It was first published all the way back on April 10, 2015, and ran for almost five years, ending in early January 2020. The webcomic has had a stable fanbase from start to finish with about 30,000 likes on each episode and a high rating of 9.81/10. There have been over 100 million views and has been read by almost a million readers! Brief Introduction: Think of a fairytale-esque storybook. Powerful…

Love Advice from the Great Duke of Hell – The Gag Comic to End Them All

Another week, another WEBTOON to look at! This week, it’s Love Advice from the Great Duke of Hell, a comic built entirely on its comedy and random humor. Created by unfins, Love Advice was actually a winner of a WEBTOON comic pitch contest in 2018. The first few episodes were released at the end of that year, and the story concluded three years later, in December 2022. The WEBTOON was very successful during its life, especially at the beginning (The first 50 episodes had over 100,000 likes!). It has been viewed over 100 million times and has had 1.3 million readers.…

Dr. Frost – A Psychological Anomaly

Welcome back to a new semester of WEBTOON reviews! Today’s post is on Dr. Frost, a mystery comic that has had one of the longest hiatuses in WEBTOON history (at least for the English site). It is also one of the earliest WEBTOONs to be published, with the prologue released on December 27, 2014. Dr. Frost was created by Jong Beom Lee and is still running with weekly updates. As I stated earlier, Dr. Frost was on hiatus for about three and a half years as there was no official English translation for the webcomic after the third season. Once…

Tales Of The Unusual – Spooky Stories for Halloween

Halloween’s right around the corner, so today, we’ll be looking at a creepier WEBTOON. Welcome to Tales Of The Unusual, an anthology of short horror stories that tell tales of the unusual. Created by Sungdae Oh, the web series is a classic on WEBTOON. The series began on June 30, 2014, and just recently ended on August 27, 2022, lasting 377 episodes. Tales Of The Unusual is an immensely popular WEBTOON with over 150 million views and a rating of 9.66/10. Even though horror is not one of the most popular genres, Tales Of The Unusual brought creepy tales to all…

Meow Man – It’s Raining Cats and Dogs in this Romance!

Wow, it’s kind of crazy how quickly how fast time is moving; we’re already halfway through the semester and just past midterm season! So to lift some spirits and bring some energy for the rest of the year, I thought to suggest a light-hearted comedy romance. Meow Man is exactly that! The series was created by Olso and began publication on July 22, 2019, releasing four initial episodes. It ran for 154 episodes, with the final episode ending the series on July 14, 2021 (so close to hitting the 2-year mark). Meow Man is well-rated at 9.69/10 and received over…

Gourmet Hound – Not To Be Read On An Empty Stomach

Welcome to the first passion blog in a series of many! For the very first post, I wanted to talk about Gourmet Hound, my favorite WEBTOON since I started reading it all the way back in 2017. For some quick background, Gourmet Hound is a drama and romance webcomic published on WEBTOON by Leehama. The first chapter officially appeared on WEBTOON on December 3, 2017, and its final chapter on March 21, 2020, with an afterword from the creator a week later. Here are some fun statistics that might make you consider picking Gourmet Hound up if you’re interested in…
