A MESSAGE FROM THE CHANCELLOR AND CHIEF ACADEMIC OFFICER

Jungwoo Ryoo Headshot

GREETINGS FROM COLLEGE PLACE!

Penn State DuBois has experienced another outstanding year, marked by significant growth and resilience within our campus community. Despite the substantial changes and challenges across Penn State, our campus has not only adapted, but has also flourished, embracing new opportunities that have emerged.

A key milestone this year was the unification of our campus under an shared vision, now encapsulated in our campus playbook. This strategic framework has guided us in continuing to uphold our land-grant mission, empowering students, faculty, and staff, and ensuring the sustainability of our success.

As I enter my third academic year at Penn State DuBois, I am more optimistic than ever about the future of our campus. We have been relentless in our efforts to enhance outreach, workforce development, and campus planning:

Outreach Initiatives: We have expanded our outreach to high school students, teachers, and underrepresented groups. This includes hosting our first summit for STEM teachers, submitting a National Science Foundation proposal for Research Experience for Teachers, and securing funding to support our work with women and veterans.

Workforce Development: Our continuing and community education programs, NCPA LaunchBox, and Idea Lab have seen further growth. The Industry 4.0 Academy launched its pilot program in collaboration with local school districts, and we’ve added new capabilities in automation training with the acquisition of industrial robots and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).

Monument Hill Feasibility Study: The completion of a feasibility study for Monument Hill has provided us with a clear vision and phased plan for the space. We anticipate sharing more details once the official report is finalized.

In addition to these achievements, we remain committed to continuously improving the student experience, strengthening outreach to external partners, and enhancing our recruitment and retention efforts.

As we look to the future, our campus is poised to continue its trajectory of growth and innovation.

We Are Penn State!
