  2. Dorm Life

September 27, 2012 by Carly Trakofler

I’m so excited to write about this because my passion blog is at least somewhat centered around it.  Woot!  I sort of dislike rambling about my own experiences, especially because I know you HAVE the things I’m writing to read it one way or another.  Sigh.  I want to say how much I love it here at college.  It’s just an immense sense of joy and comfort that really isn’t explainable.  Maybe its the freedom, maybe its my amazing roommate, maybe its the way we designed the room, maybe its just the atmosphere.  Regardless, it’s awesome here.  I think one of the few problems I have is people being loud and obnoxious from 9pm to around 3am and then starting again at 6am til 10am.  I become somewhat murderous if people keep me from sleeping by being loud – slamming doors, laughing and talking in the hall or with their doors open, the hand dryer going off, running and thumping and playing music from the boys upstairs…  Gah! It’s terrible!  I really wish I didn’t mind but I can’t help that I do.  I’m getting more used to it, but I still expect QUIET after 9 or 10pm.  I’m either sleeping or studying, neither of which I want interrupted.   I brought earplugs and they work very very well, but I don’t immediately wear them every night.  I’ve noticed that, since the start of the year, people have gotten more careless with being noisy.  People also come back to the dorms later.  I might actually have died by now if I’d had the dorm room right next to the main door to the dorms and the elevator.  I would have needed a transfer.
