For my e-portfolio platform, I am probably going to use Wix. I have previously used both Wix and Weebly before, and although I found Weebly to be far easier to use, it seems as though Wix has more options to personalize and arrange content.
The purpose of my e-portfolio is going to be much more casual than some of the examples, as I will simply be using it to present my past Freshman year to both my immediate and extended family. I will divide my e-portfolio into a few different sections, such as classes, THON, Extracurriculars, and sports, which were the main areas of almost all of my activities for the past two semesters.
As for the actual content of the tabs, I will be including everything from videos to sample school work. My “classes” tab will include my schedules and a few pieces of work that I am most proud of from this year. My “THON” tab will be mostly pictures alongside and explanation of what THON is and how involved I have been in it, as well as the exact actions that I have taken. My “extracurriculars” tabs will also include pictures from my time in the Alpha Delta Pi sorority and from my job at the IM building. I am not entirely sure if we are allowed to include artifacts that we did not create, but if they can be outside documents, I will include items such as the passages that we had to memorize in order to be initiated into ADPi. Finally, my “sports” tabs will include more pictures of my times at the football, volleyball, and hockey games, as well as from my participation in Nittanyville.
It’s really cool that you’re just doing your portfolio for your family. I haven’t seen anyone else do that really, and I myself and making mine for professional/academic purposes.
Fun! I might do it. for my family too because I don’t know what I want to do with my life yet and therefore don’t have a professional audience to cater it toward.
I think this theme works really well and is streamlined to what you want to do. My only fear would be from your list you having a lot of different artifacts to write about which is cool but a lot of work. Overall great thoughts.
For the purpose of your website, I think you’ve got a really good idea of how to execute on your vision. Since you’re not looking for a professional audience, maybe try adding more pictures and captions instead of text blocks or links out to other sites
