I retired from Penn State in 2017 as Emeritus Professor of Soil Microbiology.  My positions at  Penn State from 2002 to 2017 were Director of Academic Affairs for World Campus Graduate Programs and Head of the Department of Crop and Soil Sciences (now the Department of Ecosystem Science and Management). From 1981 to 2002 I was on the faculty at the University of Florida in the Department of Soil and Water Science. While at UF, I conducted research on mycorrhizae, including development of an innovative process to produce inoculum of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi. I was also the editor of a soil microbiology textbook.
