BLTN Tips & Tricks

Spawned Bulletin

A Bulletin (BLTN)  Process can be spawned from an Request For Information (RFI) processes

  • What does spawning a process mean?
    • By taking the appropriate actions in the RFI process, a “spawn” step will create a new instance of the process being spawned.

In the Designer Respond step in the RFI process, the following question is asked:  Is a Bulletin Needed

  • If the 02 Designer selects “No” a Bulletin is not needed then the process will route to Step 4 Contractor Accept (Impact) step.
  • If the 02 Designer selects “Yes – Spawn New” a BLTN process will be created and assigned to the users in the 02 Designer Mgmt role.  The newly created BLTN process will need action taken by the 02 Designer to create the bulletin documents.  Please note a separate BLTN process instance will need to be created for each Prime Contractor.  For example, if there is more than one prime contractor on the project the “spawned” bulletin process instance will be BLTN-1 the 02 Designer will need to manually start the additional BLTN processes (BLTN-2, BLTN-3, BLTN-4, etc) so each prime contractor can price/respond accordingly.  Once action is taken, the process is advanced to the Step 5: Contractor Accept (Bulletin) step.
  • If the 02 Designer selects “Yes – Attached”, the 02 Designer will select the appropriate BLTN process from the Lookup.  Once action is taken, the process is advanced to the Step 5: Contractor Accept (Bulletin) step.

Once the Bulletin is submitted, the RFI will automatically advance to the “finish” step and will close.Where to Spawn BLTN
