Julie Modricker, jaw300@psu.edu
Julie began working with students at Penn State University as an Academic Adviser in the college in September 2011. She’s advised for a few different majors in Liberal Arts but now serves as Lead Academic Adviser in Economics and greatly enjoys her job!
Her professional career began directly out of graduate school where she attained a school counselor position at her high school Alma mater in Jersey Shore, PA. After 7 1/2 great years there working with middle and high school aged students, with 5 of those years including a long commute to work, she decided she needed to work closer to home and to find a new professional challenge. She began working as an Academic Counselor with the Penn State University Upward Bound Program. This program serves high school students who would be first in their family to go to college for a bachelor’s degree and who come from disadvantaged backgrounds. After 2 1/2 years there, she was a stay-at-home mom for 5 years.
This is when she found her new passion here at Penn State where she continues to serve in Academic Adviser. Penn State pride is all around and she feels very fortunate to be working here with such great students, faculty, staff, and administration.
Julie’s outside interests and hobbies include reading, skiing, hiking, kayaking, scrapbooking, watching Netflix, and spending time with family and friends.

Georgelle Bilak-Crist, gsb141@psu.edu
I graduated from Penn State in 2004, and since that time, I always knew I wanted to work at the University as well. I was hired as an Academic Adviser at World Campus in 2011 and was there for a little over 5 years until I moved in to my current Economics Advising position (September 2016). My favorite part of advising is the students and their excitement for their higher education journey.
When I am not in the office, I enjoy spending time with my family, especially my husband, Brian, and our two dogs, Camo (a lab mix) and Toby (a Golden Retriever) and our cat, PennDot. I also enjoy crafting- specifically, I make cards and 3D paper shadow boxes and scrapbook when I have time.

Hsiao Ling (Lilian) Ma, hxm206@psu.edu
My diverse past experiences and background gave me the opportunity to encounter a lot of students and families. It makes me love to work with college students and be able to navigate and explore with them. I like to advocate for students as well, especially the underrepresented student population. I also like to provide guidance for students to develop academically, professionally, and personally.
I am able to demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equality, and inclusion in my work while assisting students to achieve their academic and personal goals through their own unique step by step process. Every day is a new and rewarding day and I am happy to grow with them and to be a part of their journey at Penn State.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, watching football and hockey, traveling, and adventuring.
