Students who have a cumulative GPA below 2.00 and who interrupt their continuous enrollment at the University (i.e., withdraw from a semester of classes, leave voluntarily, choose not to continue enrollment in classes, or are placed on Academic Suspension) must apply for re-enrollment as defined in Faculty Senate policy 58-00. With rare exceptions, this means that the student will be re-enrolling to the University will return in Academic Warning status.
Students who have a cumulative GPA below 2.00 and would like to request re-enrollment in the Eberly College of Science should:
- Contact an Academic Recovery Adviser to share the progress you made while you were away from the University: Mr. Lucais Wallen ( ltw5099@psu.edu), Ms. Natasha Dinsmore (nvd9@psu.edu) or Dr. Carolyn Jensen (cjj7@psu.edu).
- Complete the College of Science Self-Reflection Survey if you have not already done so.
- Complete the Returning into Academic Warning reflection survey. This survey is required for all students requesting re-enrollment in the College of Science who have a cumulative GPA below 2.00. Re-enrollment forms submitted without the required survey will not be reviewed. Your survey responses and ongoing communication with your Academic Recovery Adviser will greatly support your application for re-enrollment to the University.
- Meet with an Academic Recovery Adviser (either in person, by phone, or by Zoom) to discuss your plans for the upcoming semester.
- Apply for re-enrollment at the University Application must be submitted by:
- August 1st to enroll for Fall semester,
- December 1st to enroll for Spring semester, and
- May 1st to enroll for Summer semester
- If you are an international student, discuss your return with DISSA to determine how to obtain a new visa, I-20, and any other documentation you may need. You can contact “Pre-Arrival Advising” via the information listed on this page: https://global.psu.edu/node/384
- Notify your Academic Recovery Adviser via email when you receive your re-enrollment confirmation from the Registrar’s Office.
Re-enrollment will not be permitted if the student cannot physically be present on campus before the end of the first week of classes. Please contact us if you have questions/concerns regarding this expectation.
If you know that you will not be able to return to campus, you may apply for a Leave of Absence following the processes and deadlines set by the Registrar’s Office. If granted, the Leave of Absence will permit you to return to the University in a future semester without having to apply for re-enrollment again. Please contact us if you have questions/concerns regarding this option.
