About:
Since 2014, EEHR has partnered with the State College Community Land Trust to research, design, and document the GreenBuild Duplex at 1394 University Drive in State College, PA. The homes are designed to be net-zero energy (they produce as much energy as they use) while remaining affordable to median-income homebuyers in the area. EEHR facilitated multiple design charrettes with the SCCLT and local community members and researched best practices to produce a set of design recommendations for the duplex. The homes were initially designed by students through the Department of Energy’s Race to Zero student design competition. In Fall 2016, Envinity–in collaboration with Henry Architecture and Design and Paul Macht Architects–began producing a set of construction documents based off of the research, design, and recommendations of EEHR. Construction began on the homes in October 2017 and is expected to be finished in May 2018.
