COVID-19

A successful symposium is predicated on the health and safety of all attendees. As such we are implementing the following policy measures to mitigate, as much as possible, the transmission of COVID-19 between symposium participants.

  1. As of June 2022, Penn State’s Health Guidelines require that masks are worn indoors on campus and at University-affiliated events.
    • High-quality disposable masks (e.g., KN95s) will be provided for all participants.
  2. Penn State strongly encourages students, faculty, staff, and visitors to campus to be fully vaccinated. Information pertaining to vaccines can be found on vaccines.gov.
  3. The Organizing Committee strongly recommends that participants test for COVID-19 before participating in the symposium and before their departure from State College.
    • Three rapid tests will be provided to all participants. These may be used to test upon arriving to the symposium, and before returning afterwards.
    • Residents in the U.S. are also able to order free antigen tests at covid.gov/tests
  4. The Organizing Committee recommends participants reside in private rooms for the duration of the symposium, in order to facilitate quarantine, if necessary.
    • By default, the Organizing Committee is arranging for single rooms for those in need of lodging at the symposium venue (see the Travel Logistics page).

As the COVID-19 situation continues to develop, the above policies may change and evolve. In the meantime, the Organizing Committee will work to keep registrants informed. If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions, please contact the Organizing Committee via l-eres-2022-questions@lists.psu.edu.

Please stay quarantined if you test positive or you are experiencing COVID-related symptoms. If you receive a positive test, please notify ERES organizers via this self-reporting form.
