We currently do not have any advertised positions. Read on below about other ways to potentially become involved in the lab.

Undergraduate Students

Undergraduate Positions in the lab can take shape as wage-payroll positions or undergraduate research projects. If you have an interest in either option email smfleishman@psu.edu with a resume and copy of your unofficial transcripts.

Wage payroll positions are available to undergraduates and offer opportunities to experience hands-on research, with the expectation of active support of a wide variety of lab activities. Opportunities are available on an ongoing basis, frequently with part-time opportunities during the school year and full-time opportunities during the summer.

Undergraduate research projects can be completed for course credit or wages. Undergraduate research projects offer an opportunity to undergraduates to perform an independent research project, culminating in a written report and presentation, and to be exposed to broad research topics through supporting other lab activities. Students can fund their wages for their undergraduate research projects through the College of Agriculture Undergraduate Research Award, Erickson Discovery Grants (summer only), Federal Work Study Awards, or other opportunities suggested by the Undergraduate Fellowships and Mentoring Office.

Graduate Students (MS or PhD)

If the lab has an open graduate student position, it will be advertised at the top of this page. Graduate Students can complete graduate studies with Dr. Suzanne Fleishman through the Agricultural, Environmental, and Plant Sciences (AEPS) program or the Ecology Intercollege Graduate Program at Penn State. Interested students are encouraged to send me an email at smfleishman@psu.edu with a their CV,  unofficial transcripts, and 2-3 sentences on your research interests. I make a best effort to respond to each email request I receive.

The number of available graduate student positions in the lab can be unpredictable due to grant funding cycles. Prospective graduate students or visiting scholars with an active interest in the lab and who are willing to seek funding for their graduate education are encouraged to reach out to see if joint applications for fellowships (e.g., NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP)) are a possibility.

Post-doctoral Positions

When a postdoctoral position with the lab is not available, prospective postdoctoral scholars interested in the lab can work with Dr. Fleishman to apply for outside funding (e.g., USDA-NIFA or NSF). Please to reach out with your CV at least 3 months before the fellowship application due date.
