This dynamic duo of lice was collected on Monodelphis brevicaudata (Erxleben 1777) (Didelmorphia: Didelphidae).
This host species is commonly known as the Northern red-sided or short-tailed opossum. It can be found in much of northeastern South America. Size and fur color can be used to determine this species. There are three subspecies of Monodelphis brevicaudata, which are separated by geography and habitat differences (Ventura et al 1998).
