Hello Class!
My name is Naomi and I live in Philadelphia, PA. I am a senior majoring in Human Development and Family Studies. After three years at University Park Iam finishing up my fourth and final year with World Campus and I could not be more excited about it.
As I finish up my undergraduate degree, I work part time as a barista in a coffee shop, as well as volunteer with human service organizations in my free time. While I do not wish to continue on as a barista, I have gained such an incredible experience in the last four years as it helped me gain first hand knowledge of leadership skills, as well as team building. Following graduation this spring, I hope to work for a nonprofit working with developmentally disabled young adults and families, as I continue on to get my Masters in Counseling.
Maya Angelou said “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”. This is an important because I believe in all aspects of life, treating people with respect and empathy fosters good relationships, and in order to be a good leader, you must have a good relationship with the people you lead. The root of good leadership, in my opinion, is in making people feel confident in you.
