Hello Everyone!

My name is Rob Davenport and I am currently in a retail leadership role as a District Manager with Tractor Supply Company. I am from and live in the Harrisburg, PA area which is in southeastern PA. A long-term goal that I have is to find a leadership role in which I can do more to help others, such as with a non-profit organization. I have held retail leadership roles for the past 14 years. My favorite hobby is distance running and I plan on running a marathon later this year.

I look forward to learning from all of you this semester!

Hello OLead 410 Classmates!

Hi everyone! My name is Victoria Zielinski, but please call me Tori. I’m currently living in Reading, PA, but will be moving in August to State College, PA. I’m currently a sophomore in the BA Organizational Leadership program, minoring in Psychology. Professionally, right now I’m only an intern for Greater Philadelphia NAMI and I do a lot of volunteering. Some of my long-term goals would be to graduate from Penn State and hopefully start a career with the University. I have a few experiences being a leader, I’m currently President of the World Campus Blue and White Society and I’m also a co-founder and current President of Active Minds at World Campus. I also am a Student Ambassador for World Campus. I’ve held office positions for Active Minds and Blue and White Society for 2 years now. I have a lot of favorite quotes but none of them seem to fit under leadership. I’ll have to search for one. I don’t have children but I do have a 14 month old Beagle named Cali, who is a major handful but she’s the best dog. I play volleyball, use to be in a super competitive league in middle school and high school, but now I play for fun. I try to read one book a week during my semester and two while on break. I hope everyone has a great semester and I look forward to working with you!

This is sample post to help ease your concerns about posting here. Basically you can’t mess up the technology, so please hit the “+ New” button above, choose “post”, and write your test blog entry (this one doesn’t count towards your final tally of blog entries). Then feel free to comment on your classmates’ entries as a test of that as well. If you don’t see the “+ New” above, please contact me and I will get you author rights.

For your actually posts for the semester (You’ll need to complete 4 entries and also 4 comments) you will need to apply a course concept or two to something relevant to your life and a global leadership concept we are discussing. Please make sure to explain the idea and how it fits.

This is a slightly less formal assignment, and it should also be fun. But remember that it is a class assignment, so you will need to demonstrate your learning by applying a course concept (and citing and referencing), it shouldn’t just be a personal journal.

As for who I am, my name is Brian Redmond, and I’ll be your instructor for the semester. I’m from a lot of places. I was born in Upstate New York near the Canadian border, but spent most of my early life in Vermont. I went to New York City for graduate school and lived both there and in New Jersey. I spent a year back in Upstate New York before moving to Arizona for my first full-time teaching job. From there I moved to Pennsylvania back in 2008 to work here at Penn State. I work for the World Campus because I love online education. I’ve been teaching online since 2004 and made the switch to full-time faculty in 2008, so I’ve worked with a lot of great students from all over the world in the over 100 sections I’ve now taught. For hobbies, I am a sci-fi fan, and I’ve been reading a lot of new authors recently. I also am a big baseball fan. All sorts of baseball. I love coaching my son’s team in the summer and also enjoy going to see the local minor league team play; the State College Spikes.

I look forward to working with you all this semester.
