When thinking about Russia, dictatorship pops into mind. Vladimir Putin, the current leader of Russia, has strict laws on who can come into his country. Currently Russia is involved with the Syrian war and sides with Bashar al-Assad, who is currently the leader in Syria and is fighting against his own people. Most countries including the United States and other European countries have taken in Syrian refugees. Russia has refused to take in any refugees no matter where they are from, including Syria. When looking at the demographics of the people of Russia, there is no record of any people from the African or Asian continents. Most of the people who make up Russia are born and raised in Russia, or of decent of countries that use to be part of the Solvent Union. While, Russia does have citizens that identify as Muslim, 6.5%, Russian Orthodox prevails all religions at 41% of the population.

While Russia did provide scholarships to over 300 Syrian students but again Russia pledged to not to set up resettling placements for any of the refugees.

Russia also has strict laws against same sex couples, not just marriage but just the act of having a same sex partner is enough reason for the government to throw a person in prison. People who go against the Russian government or even if another political party tries to run against the current president, they also could be thrown in prison. Russia is far behind in diversity and lack in the human rights department.

Cross-culture conflict seems the perfect way to describe to the Brexit event. Brexit was a huge event that impacted, not only Britain but several others countries like Germany, Italy, France and a few others. I remember watching the TV while the announcement was made that Britain voted for the Brexit move and I remember feeling sorry for the people of Britain and was sadden when Prime Minister David Cameron stepped down because of this vote.

When creating synergy all parties that are working together must be able to connect and work on knowing each other and understand where that person is coming from and learning their styles. I feel like the Brexit vote strained the synergy between Britain and the other countries in Europe. One country that really suffered in their industries was Germany. They saw a 5% decrease in their food exports after Brexit happened.

When looking at cross-culture conflict Britain never expressed their issues with the EU before bring upon the Brexit bill and vote. I feel they should of expressed their opinions and issues and try to work things out with the EU before exiting.

When thinking of Africa, I think of things like poverty, war, hunger and hot deserts. Most news outlets only highlight the worse in this continent and its pretty sad considering that they have so much to offer. I would never guessed Africa to be thriving in the technology fields. Silicon Valley here in California have been investing and putting time into the development in Kenya. Africa’s start in the tech business started in 2007 and grew substantially within three years. Africa started a mobile money product that grew quickly into most recognized tech from Africa. Africa was the source of the Ushahidi crowdsourcing app that is now an international company with many apps in over twenty countries. The technology is used to digitally map events anywhere on earth.

Africa’s change into the new technology world is a perfect example of organizational change. They were willing to change and keep up with the change on a global level. The African people seem to welcome this change. The technology advancements are helping to put Africa back on the map and a major player in a global context.

Hi everyone! My name is Victoria Zielinski, but please call me Tori. I’m currently living in Reading, PA, but will be moving in August to State College, PA. I’m currently a sophomore in the BA Organizational Leadership program, minoring in Psychology. Professionally, right now I’m only an intern for Greater Philadelphia NAMI and I do a lot of volunteering. Some of my long-term goals would be to graduate from Penn State and hopefully start a career with the University. I have a few experiences being a leader, I’m currently President of the World Campus Blue and White Society and I’m also a co-founder and current President of Active Minds at World Campus. I also am a Student Ambassador for World Campus. I’ve held office positions for Active Minds and Blue and White Society for 2 years now. I have a lot of favorite quotes but none of them seem to fit under leadership. I’ll have to search for one. I don’t have children but I do have a 14 month old Beagle named Cali, who is a major handful but she’s the best dog. I play volleyball, use to be in a super competitive league in middle school and high school, but now I play for fun. I try to read one book a week during my semester and two while on break.
