Graduate Women in Science (GWIS) is an interdisciplinary national society of people who support equal opportunities for all in science. Our mission as an organization is to build a global community to inspire, support, recognize, and empower women in science.

GWIS has a rich history with over 90 years as a professional organization of women in science. We have 20 active chapters across the world representing over 1,500 total members.  The National organization supports their chapters by overseeing the National  GWIS Fellowship program, providing professional development and networking opportunities, and connecting chapters with resources to run efficiently.

As a chapter of this organization, GWIS State College organizes outreach events, professional development programs, social events, a yearly networking conference, and monthly meetings for graduate students in STEM fields at Penn State.
