Our global lab affiliates community is composed of researchers, advocates, policy experts, and youth activists from around the world who connect and work collaboratively through the Lab platform 

Nadya Sistha, Indonesia

Interests: Communication Studies, human rights, politics, social justice, social media

Nadya is a writer, researcher, and youth advocate on justice as well as social issues. She obtained her Master’s degree in Communication Science and pursued her leadership program authorized by Dartmouth College. Now, Nadya is a Stanford GSB leadership prev.’s fellow. Moreover, she has started her research on a diverse range of topics, including; human rights, politics, social justice, youth, social media, international relations, and macro-economic. Nadya is the Team Leader of the GYSRL digital project (podcast) as well as the Founder and Editor of De Forefront’s Publisher in aim to enable global citizen voices to be heard majorly from Southeast Asia and Middle East. 

Brianna Wanita, Uganda

Interests: Education, Youth Empowerment

Brianna Wanita Karungi is a youth advocate, residing in Uganda. She has hopes of pursuing a degree in Law in the future.

In the moment however, She has founded and is running a youth campaign, centered around maximum youth education, utilization and empowerment to create a threshold of young leaders passionate about helping Uganda and hopefully Africa as a whole in reaching the various SDG goals. The campaign’s current pursuits are instilling leadership, entrepreneurial and innovative mindsets in the youth. Having managed to accommodate up to 273 participants, with ages ranking between 11 to 17 year olds and educating them on the various roles they play in solving significant problems in Uganda like period poverty, climate change, gender inequality etc. Brianna strongly believes in the use of the youth’s voice, skills and knowledge as a resource to lead Africa to it’s development.

Brittany Gill, Jamaica

Interests: Digital Innovation, Social Marketing, Sustainable Cities, and Communities

Britany is a 23-year-old from Jamaica who recently graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Integrated Marketing Communication from the University of the West Indies. During her studies, she worked on a social marketing campaign aimed at encouraging students to adopt better waste disposal habits in line with SDG 11, Sustainable Cities and Communities.

This fall, Britany will be pursuing her Master’s degree in Digital Innovation. With this degree, she hopes to expand her knowledge and skills in the digital space, and use technology to drive positive change towards achieving the SDG goals

Vikash Ranjan, India

Interests: Labor Rights, Youth and Work, Foresight and Future Thinking

Vikash Ranjan is a United people global champion, a team member of youth for foresight action group initiative of UN foundation in which he is working to make our future better and also a team member of jobs and economics action group initiative of UN foundation in which he is working to protect youth at work and ratify C190 in the world.

Taofeekat Adigun, Nigeria,

Interests: Health, Education, Reproductive Human Rights, Gender and Digital Development

Taofeekat-Adigun is a leading multi-disciplinary thinker with a passion for transforming global development indicators for achieving SDG goals. She possesses ample experience in co-developing advocacy, strategies, research, and policy shaping, in several areas, including health, quality education, youth transition, sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR), gender and digital development, and peacebuilding.

As an advocate for youth engagement, Taofeekat-Adigun is currently leading a pilot programme called “Connecting Classroom.” The programme links high school students in Nigeria and the United States of America to advance SDGs, promote cross-cultural bonding, and end racism.

Francis Dadzie Mintah, Ghana

Interests: Biotechnology, Sustainability, Climate, Carbon Financing, Clean Energy, Circular Economy

Francis is a PhD researcher in biotechnology and is currently undergoing studies for a Master of Science in Economics. He is a climate, environment, and sustainability enthusiast with key experience in research and project management in carbon financing, clean energy, the circular economy, and environmental protection. He has worked with several international and local organizations. Currently, he is an affiliate of the GYRSL to engage and share his experiences with the youth and to learn from others.

Fomban Ismael Majer, Cameroon

Interests: Environmental Science, Energy Transition, Sustainability

I am Ismael Majer from Cameroon, and I am 25 years old. A dedicated and passionate individual who recently completed his B.Sc. Degree in Environmental Science and a Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety at the University of Buea in Cameroon. Throughout my academic journey, I have demonstrated a strong commitment to environmental preservation and sustainability.

With a strong academic background in environmental science, I possess a deep understanding of the challenges posed by climate change and the urgent need for sustainable solutions. My studies have equipped him with a culture of results-oriented thinking, and I am committed to contributing to the improvement of the green economy while preserving nature and the environment.

As the President of the Student Energy Chapter at the University of Buea, I have honed my leadership, organizational, and project management skills. Through this role, I strive to empower fellow students and provide them with the knowledge and tools needed to take action in the field of energy transition.

Chizoba Nzeakor, Nigeria

Interests: Climate Change Action

Chizoba Nzeakor is an Award winning Climate champion, Innovator, Researcher, Advocate and Entrepreneur, she is a recognized future leader in the field of climate and clean energy. She was recently acknowledged by the Aspen Institute at the Aspen Ideas Climate Summit in Miami Beach 2023, awarded the African SDG Achievers award 2023, for her role in Climate actions, Awarded an MBA Scholarship by the Quantic School of Business and Technology, Washington DC also for her role in taking Climate actions.

She is a member of Forbes BLK, the Queen’s Commonwealth Youth Trust Network. She is a member of the Commonwealth Sustainable Energy Transition Youth Executive, Youngo a(UNFCCC) and SDG 7 Youth Constituency. A Climate and Clean Energy Professional and an MBA candidate at Quantic Business School. She is the Founder and CEO of Climate Technology Solutions, Zoba Advisory, and Caroline Raphael Events. She is also a Fellow at Student Energy and a UN-SDSN Localpathways Fellow.

Adedoyin Oyekan, UK

Interests: Global Health Policy

GP trainee with an interest in pediatric global health and non communicable diseases 

Studying Global Health Policy SDG 3 – working on establishing health promotion and prevention of disease through an understanding of socioeconomic factors of primary care patients. Although focused on SDG 3, we will need to tackle other SDGs such as 2, 4 and 11 to make it a reality. 

Kenneth Knack Smith

Interests: Mental Health, Peer Counseling, Diplomacy, Sustainable Development

I am Kenneth Knack Numana from Ghana. I am 25 years old and graduated from the University of Ghana in 2021 with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. I have a long-standing interest and growing experience in mental health, peer counseling, diplomacy and sustainable development. I am currently working with the United Nations Information Centre, Accra as a Volunteer Communication Support Assistant. I also coordinates SDG Clubs in High Schools in Ghana.

Megi Marku, Albania

Interests: Engineering, Youth in Politics

Megi is a Hydrotechnical engineer currently conducting her MSc in the same field. Beyond her academic pursuits, she is an active participant in politics, deeply committed to advocacy efforts and contributing to her society. Her influence extends to international platforms such as the European Parliament and the United Nations.

She represented the Albanian youth on a global scale as a delegate at the EYE23 and at the ECOSOC Youth Forum as a two-time panelist. Megi’s engagement encompasses local governance as a devoted member of the Tirana Municipality’s Local Youth Council. Additionally she leads the Youth Forum for Human Rights and Democracy, underscoring her passion for empowering the youth, championing human rights, democracy, peace, and security. Her commitment shines further through her service in various youth councils and organizations, embodying her belief in the power of youth to drive meaningful progress. She continues to inspire positive change, leaving an indelible mark on both local communities and the broader international landscape.

Lord Offei-Darko, Ghana

Interests: Biology, Air Pollution, Urban Development

Offei-Darko Lord is a biologist with much interest and experience in the environmental advocacy space. He was one of the young African scientists who advocated with UrbanBetter to drive further regional (Africa) air pollution policies, contributing to 2022’s International Day of Clean Air for Blue Skies and a leading member of 10 billion strong’s U.S.- Africa’s green leaders fellowship.

As a certified foundational primer for sustainable development by the United Nations System Staff College, he has spent the last 2 years working to bridge the gap “between the international decisions [on climate change ] with the reality on the ground.”

Usman Bashir Abubakar, Nigeria

Interests: Storytelling, Gender Equity

Usman Bashir Abubakar is a leading Multi-disciplinary Thinker, Development Practitioner, Researcher and a Writer who uses storytelling to tell power stories, communicate data and research on the inequalities affecting women and girls in Sub-saharan Africa, so as to inspire and effect change, build empathy and political by empowering people and governments to see how they can contribute to lasting positive change.

Abubaker Sektatuka

Interests: Public Health, Maternal, Neonatal, Child Health

Abubaker Sekatuka is a public health advocate and a project management professional with over five years of experience in project implementation and community engagement in the nonprofit sector. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health – Health Promotion from Uganda Martyrs University in Uganda and a Diploma in Nursing from Mulago School of Nursing and Midwifery. Over the past five years, Abubaker has advocated for maternal, neonatal and child health rights, sexual and reproductive health rights, specifically pregnancy care, disease detection and prevention by training community health workers and strengthening Community Health Systems. Abubaker has volunteered in several organizations like World Federation of Public Health Associations where he serves on the policy committee by drafting public health policies. Through these experiences, he has developed strong program management and engagement skills. With a strong passion for reproductive health and youth development, Abubaker strives to achieve social impact by reducing health disparities in vulnerable communities and empowering young leaders.

Zoe Keath, Australia

Interests: Politics, Social Media, Youth and Community Engagement

Zoe is a Policy Officer, Youth Advocate and an Honours graduate from the Queensland University of Technology, specialising in criminology and psychology. Her honours thesis examined the role of politics and social media in the amplification and normalising of far-right extremist sentiment.

Zoe partakes in a range of community work, including as a Non-Executive Director with Voices of Influence Australia, a Parliamentary Officer with the Queensland Youth Parliament and as a Youth Advisor on numerous Youth Advisory Councils, including with the U.S Consulate, Queensland Family and Child Commission and Bravehearts. Her community work has been recognised with numerous accolades including being recognised as one of the top 20 Women in Sustainable Development (2022) and as a Young Women to Watch in International Affairs (2023)

Anthony Opus, Uganda

Interests: Water Resources, Climate Change, Youth Engagement

Anthony Opus is a Water Resources Engineer at Wawtex Solutions Limited, a 2023 Global World Bank Group Youth Summit Delegate, a FXB Spring Cohort 2023 Climate Advocate, A pan African Green Leaders Academy Fellow, Former Research Activate and Deepen (RAD) fellow at Youth climate Lab, a member of the United International Federation of Youth for water and climate and a One Million Youth Actions Challenge Ambassador. Climate change is one of the most alarming issues threatening quality of life of the human civilisation. The undesirable climate events such as intensifying droughts, floods, sea level rise, mountain glaciers and many other extreme weather events are a proof that climate change is not a question of fiction or politics but rather a question of facts and reality. Youth taking centre stage in the fight against climate change is a giant stride forward towards achieving a sustainable and liveable planet for they are adaptable and can quickly make low-carbon lifestyles and career choices apart of their daily lives and thus effecting the same lifestyle to the entire society.

Hailey Ciantar, Malta

Hailey Ciantar is a climate change and human rights activist and a law student from Malta. She is igniting change at the European level as an EU Bioeconomy Youth Ambassador. During her two-year mandate as an EU Ambassador, she aims to raise awareness of our natural environments’ value for our economy and current living standards. To do so, Hailey is representing her generation with regard to environmental concerns by addressing European representatives at high-level conferences across Europe
