Preston Lievano

Undergraduate Researcher

Preston is a Microbiology major and BMB minor from Seattle, Washington. He is a current THON™ 2023 captain for the Hospitality committee. He was a THON™ 2021 committee member his freshman year and a THON™ 2022 captain for the Finance committee his sophomore year. He is also a current member of Phi Chi Theta, a business fraternity, and Atlas Benefitting THON.

His research explores the effects of purine metabolism in neurological pathways by monitoring changes in behavioral phenotypes using the model organism C. elegans. Specifically, he is studying the phenotypic chances in mobility after RNAi knockdown of  the CMPK1 and xhd-1 genes.
