2024 Life Sciences Symposium

The 8th annual Life Sciences Symposium will be held on Friday, May 17th, 2024.

This year’s symposium theme was Artificial Intelligence in the Life Sciences The Life Sciences Symposium (LSS) featured keynote speakers, student research presentations and posters, panels, and workshops. This year we had 179 attendees with 12 student talks, 4 post doc talks, and 52 posters. Thank you to everyone who came!

Featured Keynote Speaker: Dr. Anthony Gitter

Dr. Anthony Gitter is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biostatistics and Medical Informatics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the Jeanne M. Rowe Chair at the Morgridge Institute for Research. His research group develops machine learning tools for biochemistry applications such as drug discovery and protein engineering. In addition, they use network modeling to connect genomic, transcriptomic, and proteomic data and provide a cohesive view of a biological process, with special emphasis on virology and oncology.

We’ll dive into the mind-blowing affordances of Adobe Firefly, exploring its role in creating GenAI graphics, seamless background fills, and distinctive fonts, enhancing the visual appeal of your projects.


Career Seminar Featuring: Diane Bouis and Ted Liberti

 

Diane Bouis, PhD MBA (She/Her): Diane is the outgoing Program Director for MedTech Innovator, the largest Medtech accelerator in the world and an advisor and investor to female led-biomedical startups. She has extensive experience managing startup portfolios through previous roles as Innovation Manager at the University of Michigan’s Innovation Partnerships Startup Incubator and as an innovation consultant with The Inovo Group.

 Ted L. Liberti, CCO, Co-Founder, BioMagnetic Solution: Ted co-founded BioMagnetic Solutions (BioMag) in 2012 and has served as BioMag’s COO, CEO, CBO, CCO and EVP of Business Development, managing BioMag’s operations, business development and corporate partnering initiatives for BioMag’s cell selection technologies and cell therapy platforms. He is an expert on magnetic cell selection and the manufacture and optimizations of BioMag’s core technology – nanomagnetic Ferrofluids for biological and cell separations.
