What is TaMIS?

Towards a More Inclusive Science (TaMIS) is an offshoot of Towards a More Inclusive Astronomy (TaMIA). TaMIA and TaMIS are a way to begin discussions about and advance ideas around making astronomy (TaMIA) and other sciences (TaMIS) more just, equitable, diverse, and inclusive. Check out the TaMIA website for more information on the roots of this project!

The goals of our Life Sciences TaMIS group are:

  1. Provide support for those who have experienced pushback in life based on who they are, where they come from, what they believe in, or how they look, sound, speak, hear, think, move, feel, or understand the world.
  2. Learn more as a community about the experiences of underrepresented voices.
  3. Through discussion and action, serve as a catalyst for changes to teaching, mentoring and research practices that will lead to more inclusive life sciences.

To this end, we have monthly discussion groups. Each month we will discuss one topic revolving around some aspect of justice, equity, diversity, and/or inclusion in the life sciences. Check out our full schedule of topics!
