Article I
Name
The name of this organization shall be the Physical Therapy Club
Article II
Purpose
The purpose of this organization shall be to:
- Function as a liaison between the Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Physical Therapy Association and Penn State Hazleton, Physical Therapist Assistant Program;
- Create a sense of community among the students enrolled in the Physical Therapist Assistant Program;
- Promote the practice of the Physical Therapist Assistant in healthcare through increased public awareness;
- Provide a vehicle for community service by interested students;
- Facilitate student participation/attendance at state and national professional meetings.
Article III
Membership
- Membership to the Physical Therapy Club will be granted to all students currently enrolled in the Physical Therapist Assistant Program at Penn State Hazleton.
- To be considered an active member, attendance must be 50% of the scheduled meetings and/or group functions required.
- Each member of the club is highly encouraged to be an active member to benefit from club activities and functions.
Article IV
Organization and Officers
The Physical Therapy Club shall have a faculty advisor and an Executive Committee that will be organized as follows: President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer.
- New officers will be elected by the first-year class in the first three weeks of the Spring semester of year one;
- The outgoing sophomore officers will mentor their successors until they leave office at the end of the spring semester;
- The faculty advisor shall attend each official meeting of the club.
Article V
Meetings
- Meetings will be held at least bi-monthly but no more than weekly;
- Notification of a special meeting shall be given to each member at least 24 hours prior to the time of the called meeting.
Article VI
Voting
Business matters shall be approved by a majority of members voting.
Article VII
Provisions
The provisions of the constitution and its by-laws shall not be in conflict with the guidelines as set forth in the by-laws of the American Physical Therapy Association nor with those of Penn State University.
Article VIII
Finance Committee
This committee shall be comprised of the faculty advisor and the executive committed members. All fundraising projects must be approved by the faculty advisor. No financial transactions can take place without prior approval from the faculty advisor and a majority vote from the club members.
Article IX
Amendments
Amendments to the constitution of the Physical Therapy Club must be approved by the faculty advisor. The procedure shall be as follows:
- Any member may propose an amendment;
- The President shall submit all proposed amendments to the faulty advisor for evaluation and approval.
- Amendments approved by the faculty advisor shall be submitted to the members of the club and voted upon.
