Associate Professor, Department of Humanities
Director, Clinical Ethics Consultation Service
Rebecca Volpe is Associate Professor in the Department of Humanities and Director of the Clinical Ethics Consultation Service at PSHMC. She divides her time fairly evenly between clinical ethics work in the hospital; designing, administrating and teaching ethics and humanities curricula to medical students; and conducting empirical research. Dr. Volpe is a collaborative researcher whose primary mixed-methods research agenda explores the nature and impact of health humanities curricula, with a goal of developing widely agreed-upon high-level curricular goals that can support humanities educators’ ability to design purposeful curricula toward clear, common ends. She finds her work meaningful and challenging and often says she “hit the job jackpot.”
