The John W. Combs Memorial Award for Medical Students recognizes outstanding achievement by a medical or MD/PhD student who is enrolled in the Penn State College of Medicine and who has demonstrated a creative response to suffering. Students may self-nominate works of art that demonstrate an exceptional creative response to suffering or be nominated by others. Nominated work can be created for the annual memorial service for body donors OR a submission to Wild Onions OR other work. The submitted work can be represented by an image of the work of art, musical score, audio file of a performance, manuscript, or other representation of the work. Additionally, students must submit a paragraph that explains how the work represents a creative response to suffering. Nominations and self-nominations should be sent to the HUM_Honorifics@pennstatehealth.psu.edu by March 15.
