Michael Jasper
Who even is that?
Well I’m glad someone asked! I am currently an undergraduate student at Penn State University majoring in Cybersecurity Analytics and Operations with a side focus in Law and Policy.
I never had any real interest in the technology field until my senior year of high school, where for an extracurricular I assisted the IT Manger for half the day.
This generally consisted of me doing the grunt work like replacing the broken parts in Chromebooks and desktops and troubleshooting software issues on teaching staff and administration laptops.
Something about helping to fix people’s technology issues was really enjoyable and gave me a sense of fulfillment.
From there, I decided to continue learning about technology by going to Penn State for a degree in Information Sciences and Technology. Later on, I decided that I would specialize in Cybersecurity and I haven’t looked back since.
I’m more than just a tech guy, as I also enjoy spending time volunteering at blood drives and donating blood when I can. I love meeting new people every time I volunteer and feeling like I gave back to the community.
I’m currently President of the Student Red Cross Club at Penn State where we help setup, staff, and manage the blood drives and volunteers on campus.
This blog is another way for me to give back. My aim is to write about technology and cybersecurity topics I’ve learned in my curriculum that I think everyone should be aware of. I want people to understand the amazing capabilities technology presents along with the prevalent dangers lurking in the shadows.
So to answer the original question….Michael Jasper is a nerd. But as Bill Gates once said, “Be nice to nerds. Chances are you’ll end up working for one.”
