For the History of a Public Controversy multimedia project, our group will be analyzing the controversies around sexual harassment on this college campus. We will research the laws and regulations regarding sexual harassment and its legal definition in a court of law. There have been eleven counts of sexual harassment at Penn State since the beginning of this fall semester, so we will research these cases and document them in the video presentation. In contrast, we will conduct a series of interviews of college students at Penn State about their preconceived notions of sexual harassment. Interviews will include a wide range of topics and test subjects to ensure a variety of data. We can compare our data to national surveys to see a sampling of opinions throughout the country. Research will also be conducted to analyze the rise in sexual harassment cases within the past few years. The factors contributing to this paradigm shift will be further researched and documented in our presentation, as well.
Our video will be comprised of student, faculty, and police interviews. We will include skits depicting the methods of sexual harassment to make the video more entertaining for our audience. In addition to this, we will gather live footage of a Friday or Saturday night at a Penn State party, hoping to depict an environment where sexual harassment may take place. Our video will also include commentary with data, facts, and statistics. We think this will be an effective overview of sexual harassment both on college campuses and nationwide. Our group is really excited to begin working on this project and present it to the class.
