EXO is a nine-member boy group that debuted un S.M Entertainment. They debuted on April 8, 2012, with twelve members but due to certain circumstances, three members left. EXO is split up into two primary subunits: EXO-K and EXO-M. EXO-K consists of the Korean members and primary promotes in Korea. EXO-M consists of the Chinese members and primary promotes in China. Each subunit originally had 6 members each. EXO also has a subunit called EXO-CBX and it consists of 3 members.

Current members:
Suho’s birth name is Kim Jun Myun. He is apart of EXO-K and he is the leader. He was voted the best public speaker of the group. His hobbies are cycling, acting, and playing golf. His favorite food is sushi.
Xiumin’s birth name is Kim Min Seok. He is apart of EXO-M and EXO-CBX. He is the oldest member. He is the neatest, strongest, and cleanest member of EXO-M. His specialties are Taekwondo, kendo, and cooking. When he was young he joined a martial arts school because of a free toy.
Lay’s birth name is Zhang Jiashuai but he legally changed his name to Zhang Yixing. He is apart of EXO-M. His hobbies are playing the piano and guitar and cooking. He is fluent in Chinese and Korean.
Baekhyun’s birth name is Byun Baek Hyun. He is apart of EXO-K and EXO-CBX. His specialties are Hapkido and playing the piano. His popular nickname is “Bacon”. Many have said his personality is childlike, cheerful, and bright. He dated Girl generation’s Taeyeon for 14 months.
Chen’s birth name is Kim Jong Dae. He is apart of EXO-K and EXO-CBX. He has a powerful voice and is the best at singing the high notes. His father was a singer. He likes to joke around.
Chanyeol’s birth name is Park Chan Yeol. He is apart of EXO-K. He is the best at playing multiple musical instruments including guitar, drums, piano, bass, and djembe. He is also good at acting. He designed EXO’s logo. He is a romantic person.
D.O.’s birth name is Do Kyung Soo. He is apart of EXO-K. He can beat-box. He can speak basic English. He is obsessed with cleaning and has a habit of humming songs. He likes to cook for his fellow members.
Kai’s birth name is Kim Jong In. He is apart of EXO-K. He is one of the best dancers in EXO. He specializes in ballet, hip-hop, jazz, and popping. He has a habit of biting his lips. He has the hottest temper in EXO.
Sehun’s birth name is Oh Se Hun. He is apart of EXO-K. He is the youngest member. He has a habit of sticking out his tongue. He is not good at pronouncing the letter S. His favorite food is meat and sushi.
Ex-members:
Kris’s birth name is Li Jiaheng but he legally changed his name to Wu Yifan. He was apart of Exo-M. He was the leader of EXO-M. When he a child he moved to Canada. He can speak English, Cantonese, Mandarin, and Korean. On May 15, 2014, he filed a lawsuit against SM. He claimed that SM was mistreating their artists and gave him serious health issues. When he was diagnosticated with Myocarditis he said that SM did nothing.
Luhan’s birth name is Lu Han. He was apart of EXO-M. He auditioned for JYP entertainment but was not accepted. He can solve a Rubix cube. On October 10, 2014, he filed a lawsuit against SM. The reasons for the lawsuit was because of discrimination of treatment between Korean and Chinese members. He was also experiencing health issues due to over-exhaustion. On October 8, 2017, he posted on his Weibo account that he was dating actress Guan Xiaotong.
Tao’s birth name is Huang Zitao. He was apart of EXO-M. His nickname is Kung Fu Panda because of his dark undereye and he is good at martial arts. He loves western food. When he first became a trainee he didn’t know how to speak English or Korean so he had to room with their manager to learn more Korean. In June 2015 he created an official Chinese agency. He filed a lawsuit against Sm and lost. The reason for the lawsuit was because of discrimination of treatment, unfair distribution of profit, and he wasn’t given enough time to recover from an ankle injury sustained at the Idol Star Athletic Championship.
Exo’s sasaeng fan is labeled the worst in the industry. Sasaeng fans are fans that do extreme things to get the attention of their idols. Some of the worst experiences include the time a fan bought a van that was the same as EXO’s van and waited outside of the event, and luhan almost got in but their manager stopped them due to how weird the atmosphere was. During a delay at the airport fan grabbed Kai and made him fall and he injured his knee. In a US hotel, a fan planted recording devices in the bathroom and caught Tao singing in the shower. Exo has posted repeatedly on social media how they felt about sasaeng fan but their fan refuses to listen and has even mocked them.
EXO debuted with their song ‘Mama’. In this music video, they explain that each member has their own powers. They released both a Korean and Chinese version. The Korean version is more popular.
They released their song ‘Monster’ on June 8, 2016. It is one of the title track on the 3rd full album ‘EX’ACT’. It has over 155million views on Youtube.
They released ‘Lotto’ when they repackaged their album ‘EX’ACT’. It was unfit for broadcast by several music shows. They had to adjust some lyrics and the song was called ‘Louder’. The song had Casio themes which were inappropriate for younger viewers.
Thanks for writing this post. I enjoyed hearing about EXO’s members. I had never heard of them before but now if someone mentions them, I will be able to talk a bit about them. Maybe I will go listen to a couple of their songs too.
