Leadership style seem to be a big issue when comes managers in the business world. Often time people leadership approach is directly correlate to how it is demonstrated to their superiors in the organization. That leadership could be displayed in the articulation of words, creative ideas, or in some cases lack of respect for their subordinates. The real question is should effective leadership be limited to one style? I think that leadership should be on how what you do impact your followers.
There are several time leadership is define by your perception as appose to the result that a leader is trying to achieve. I believe the most influential leaders are able altered to the specific demands of the conditions and adapted to the requests of the individuals in certain trials encountering the organization. For instant, in contingency theories is about matching a leadership style to the appropriated situation. In my judgment, I think that just make you a one dimensional leader. But what if that situation change? Most leaders situation change often and they have to adjust their style. Situation can change from subordinate, bosses, and environment. Think about the presidential race in the U.S. and how often presidential leadership approaches change based on how they are portrayed in this country by the media. According to (Northouse, 2013) contingency theory has three factors to situational variables leader member relation, task structure, and position power. In my opinion leaders need to display all three variables, so they can adopt to the needs of the moment. At the end of the day, a business is not just a tailor suit, but also jean, sweatpants, short, and a dress.
