In order to start thinking about writing my reports I have decided I need to see a working version of my digital project on the library server. Since the site is in process, things are being added and changed. Nonetheless, seeing a version of the full site with the existing parts put together is essential. Otherwise it is like having the pieces of an unassembled “dissected map” (the 18th century term for puzzle) spread out digitally before me. To make my puzzle more complicated the aspects are in different formats. Some of the information is in word files, some others are image files and still others are virtual prototypes. Since I am actually not very good with putting puzzles together, I could not imagine how the various components might look and work together. Late in January I asked Karen Schwentner, a Web Designer/Developer in the library, to help me and she kindly put a working model together:
