“Old Guard, New Guard” by Gayle Rubin
This writing by Gayle Rubin is an exploration of the transition from the “Old Guard” or the traditional Leather Community and its customs and culture to a “New Guard” of modern Leather which is often considered a subcategory of “kink” or “BDSM”. Rubin makes a point to explain how while there are newer forms of Leather, old traditions do still exist within people of the modern community and that, while the transition does bring about problems, it brings about positive change as well.
