The Penn State Community Service Federal Work-Study (CSFWS) – Nittany Lions Read/Nittany Lions Count Program is excited to continue our support of the children, families, faculty, and staff of the State College Area School District for the 2021/2022 academic year with in-person opportunities.
Nittany Lions Read/Nittany Lions Count Classroom Support – NLR/NLC students assist and support SCASD faculty and staff, engage directly with the children, and provide one-on-one and/or small-group instruction for children kindergarten through eighth grade in classroom or support settings. The primary goal of NLR/NLC is to support the children’s development of the core competencies related to literacy, mathematics, and science skills. Placements are available to all SCASD elementary schools, as well as both middle schools. Days/times of NLR/NLC student placement opportunities are determined by SCASD administration, faculty, or staff, based on the needs within each classroom or school.
*PLEASE NOTE* Requirements for Placement with SCASD: In additional to the hiring requirements for NLR/NLC, students placed with SCASD must present the placement site with proof of Covid-19 vaccination and agree to remaining fully masked while on-site.
