All Nittany Lions Read/Nittany Lions Count Mentors are required to obtain each of the clearance documents prior to placement with a Community Partner (as part of the hiring process):
- PA Child Abuse History Clearance
- Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check
- Federal Bureau of Investigation Fingerprinting
Some positions will also require the National Sex Offender Registry Verification (NSOR). This clearance will be obtained as part of the hiring process.
All clearances are initiated by PSU upon hire. Students hired after July 2020 will receive their clearances at no cost. Students are encouraged to obtain copies of each clearance for their records. Clearances are valid for five years from the date of issue.
