The Penn State Mechanism Collective is focused on developing the theories and tools that enable compliant mechanism design, including origami-based mechanisms, developable mechanisms, and other compliant and deployable devices.
We seek to disseminate our work to the research community, industry collaborators, government agencies, and the general community. This is done through technical publications, regular conference participation, building relationships with industry and government, and providing open-source material.
As a collective, our work is amplified through the contributions of each member of our team. Student experience is the keystone of our group and is gained through working in a collaborative environment that increases their technical skills, builds their connections within the international mechanism design community, and grows their capacity to make people’s lives better.
We work in close collaboration with the Engineering Design and Optimization Group (EDOG). In fact we work, think, and create in the same room making for a diverse and knowledgeable work space in which everyone shares the goal of improving people’s lives.
