Wow, I can’t believe this… blogging is officially over and with that, my blogging career.
Honestly, I am going to miss my passion blog on endangered animals because there are so many that need to be talked about. Some of these animals, I have never even heard of, and some of these animals that will probably become extinct in our lifetime.
So my Passion Blog on Animal Awareness, I am going to list the top 10 endangered animals and hope that even a little information about them can and will lead to their revival and public awareness.
So without further ado… here we go…

- Ivory Billed Woodpecker: They are native to south-eastern U.S., it might already be extinct, but its victim to habitat loss and hunting for its feathers.
- Amur Leopard (I wrote a blog post about this animal already): They are found in Russia and scientists believe that there are only about 40 left. They fall victim to poaching.
- Javan Rhino: They were hunted to extinction in Vietnam and between 40 and 60 still exist in Indonesia’s protected Ujung Kulon National Park.
- Greater Bamboo Lemur: The rarest of the Madagascar Lemur Species, roughly 100 remain as they are constantly threatened by habitat loss and illegal hunting.
- North Atlantic Right Whale: Hunted almost to extinction, only about 350 remain.
- Mountain Gorilla: Only about 700 remain and they are threatened by poaching and habitat loss.
- Leatherback Sea Turtle: Their population has decreased at an alarmingly fast rate, as their eggs are taken from beaches by humans and their nesting grounds have been destroyed by erosion
- Siberian Tiger: They are threatened by poaching, but due to protection, their population has increased up to 500.
- Giant Chinese Salamander: The world’s largest amphibian, it can grow up to 6ft long, but is being eaten to extinct in China.
- Hawaiian Monk Seal: Fewer than 1,000 remain in the Hawaiian chains and scientists are uncertain why.
