As stated in #7 of my last post, I am a complete and utter food fanatic. And so it was important to me that I had the best places to not only get a nice dinner, or a quick bite to eat, but to have a few go-to spots for those late night eats. Whether coming from a long day of studying, or that dangerous hunger that comes after Saturday football, these top 5 places are always a reliable spot to eat good and be satisfied.
P.S. There are far more amazing options than these, but these are just my personal favorites.

Are U Hungry?
As soon as I arrived on campus, everyone kept saying, “Are you hungry?” and I would always reply with, “Yes, I am hungry, where are we going?” and then once again they would say, “Are you hungry?” and the cycle would repeat. Everyone thought it was the funniest thing in the world, which I might have to admit that it was. But, nevertheless, this quite uniquely named place has some of the best food in State College. From funnel cake fries (my personal favorite), to subs and sandwiches, to loaded French fries, unique t-shirts, and so much more, there is never a time I have been sick of this place. Not to mention, there’s a foosball table if you want some extra fun!

McDonalds

Wherever you go, McDonalds will follow. Regardless of where you are, you can probably spot a Micky D’s in a 5-mile radius. And in such a prime location on College Ave., McDonalds is that perfect go-to for late night french fries and a McFlurry. Come after midnight and it’s a whole social gathering as well, but do not worry, they always have your food out fast. Being a college student means living on a budget, and lucky for us, McDonald’s has nothing over the price of about $5, so we always know we are good to go there!

Sheetz is the absolute epitome of a go-to food stop. Any east-coasters can compare this to Wawa but many other PA residents are familiar with Sheetz. To say they have an endless amount of options is an understatement. Sheetz is essentially a convenience store, but they stock everything from cereal to chips to drinks to a soft-serve machine and amazing options at their order station. If you ever decide to go, check out the roof top seating.

This might be deceiving but Canyon Pizza and Canyon Wings are two separate places, but do not worry, they are right next door to each other. Cheesy sticks and cinnamon sticks galore along with $1 slices of pizza. Not only is Canyon cost effective, but delicious as well.

And the best for last, Gumby’s. This late night spot is famous around campus for their well-known and absolutely mouth-watering Pokey Stix. Do not get me wrong, they’ve got plenty of other good food as well, but if you are not getting the pokey stix, I do not know what you are doing. This pizza-like snack is the absolute perfect way to end your night, or to just stuff your face. Penn State is infamous for these stix, so if you have not tried them, you must; it is kind of like a rite of passage into being a Penn Stater.
While I have to say, I don’t think McDonald’s is worthy of a top 5 spot on many lists, but with that being said, I think your list is top notch. I unfortunately have not had the pleasure of trying any of these places yet(yes, I have not tried the McDonald’s in State College yet either, yes I have had McDonald’s before). Now, after reading your list, I plan to try them all. Sheetz is one that is interesting to me, because, being from Connecticut, I do not have Sheetz or Wawa near me, and I don’t think I have ever been to either of those. I sure look forward to trying out all these places on your list.
Okay, not going to lie, this post made me hungry. I haven’t tried all the spots on your list so I totally need to do that because all of these food pictures look amazing. I guess I shouldn’t have read this post after not eating breakfast!
Love this blog idea and how fun the language you use is. There is not one place I would take out of this list… the shirts at Are You Hungry I always find to be so clever and funny. AND, I had Pokey Stix last night!! I also like how you mention the Wawa vs. Sheetz debate for us East-Coasters… I always find it funny how many Penn Staters don’t know about the “rivalry.” Idk about you, but I’m definitely Team Sheetz ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I have tried all of the spots on your top five except for #1. This will soon change I am sure because those funnel cake fries look amazing! If I were to make a top five list of places I would have to include the new pizza place that opened on College Ave, Snap Pizzeria. They make custom pizzas that are to die for! I love the images and gifs that you use to compliment your post.
Yes, Yess and YES! Love this post, because I, like many others and yourself, love to hit up late night food spots. Great idea for a blog theme, as not only students can relate to it, but it also provides a strong continual read about aspects of student life at State. Keep it up:)
