4. Rally Foundation for Childhood Cancer – Research Awards
Rally Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, empowers volunteers across the country to raise awareness and funds for childhood cancer research to find better treatments with fewer long-term side effects and, ultimately, cures.

        • Postdoctoral and Clinical Research Fellow Grant – Grants are up to $50,000 per year for one or two years of support. Fellows in the last year of their fellowship are only eligible for a one-year grant and may apply through the Independent Investigator Grant the following grant cycle. The Collaborative Organizations have an interest in funding Postdoctoral and Clinical Research Fellows. A portion of available funds are reserved for Fellow Grants contingent on scores received.

5. Additional Ventures Single Ventricle Research Fund (SVRF)
The Additional Ventures’ mission is to cure single ventricle heart disease through transformative research and strategic investments that revolutionize treatment and care. The  Single Ventricle Research Fund (SVRF) is the flagship funding program. By addressing the organ- and multi-organ-level complications and clinical sequelae that drive long-term morbidity and mortality, the SVRF seeks to close critical gaps in understanding and treatment, and accelerate progress toward better, more predictive, and preventative care. The SVRF welcomes foundational research that is directly relevant to improving outcomes for individuals with single ventricle heart disease. Applicants may apply for either the Independent Investigator or Career Development tracks.

        • The Career Development Track – $300,000 over 3 years is open to postdoctoral fellows or postdoc equivalents who hold mentored positions.

6. Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) Foundation – Value Assessment & Health Outcomes Research
The PhRMA Foundation fosters biopharmaceutical innovation and value-driven health care by investing in the frontiers of research. The PhRMA Foundation Value Assessment and Health Outcomes Research (VA-HOR) Program funds researchers investigating the delivery, safety, effectiveness, and value of health care interventions.

        • Postdoctoral Fellowship in Value Assessment-Health Outcomes Research (VA-HOR) – $60,000 a year for up to two years supports individuals (U.S. and non-U.S. citizens) engaged in a multidisciplinary, collaborative research training program at an accredited U.S. university that will extend their credentials in value assessment and/or health outcomes research.

7. American Foundation for Suicide Prevention – Innovation Grants
The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) is a voluntary health organization that gives those affected by suicide a nationwide community empowered by research, education and advocacy to take action against this leading cause of death. AFSP defines priorities for funding every two years to stimulate research in understudied areas.

        • Postdoctoral Research Fellowship Innovation Grants (Up to $140,000 over 2 years) – Grants awarded to investigators who have received a Ph.D., M.D., or other doctoral degree within the preceding six years and have had no more than three years of fellowship support.

Other Databases

FUNDING INSTITUTIONAL – A searchable database of funding opportunities and awarded grants from both public and private sponsors. Funding Institutional gives users access to numerous filters (e.g., career stage, discipline, funding sponsor type) to customize their searches. Use the “Sign in” button in the upper right corner to log in with an existing Elsevier account or, alternatively, select “Sign in via your organization” and enter Penn State.  Users can then choose to create a new account or select “Skip” to access the database without creating an account. GRAPES – Compiled by UCLA and maintained by the UCLA’s Fellowships and Financial Services Office. Contains more than 500 private and publicly funded awards, including graduate and postdoctoral funding opportunities. While the website is geared toward UCLA students, it does allow external users flexible search options. Results can be filtered to focus specifically on the health sciences and to narrow results by award type and applicant citizenship status.

Stanford Medicine – Fellowship Funding Opportunities – A searchable database with an estimated 500 fellowships. Find fellowship funding opportunities by searching for sponsor, research topic, eligibility requirements, or deadline. Search results may be sorted or downloaded as  PDF or Excel file.

Johns Hopkins University Postdoc Funding Opportunities – This website features a wealth of postdoctoral funding opportunities, including a downloadable Excel file that is regularly updated and can be sorted by keyword/discipline. Eligibility requirements are also noted.

National Institutes of Health – Offers F32 Postdoctoral Fellowship awards (US citizens or permanent residents) and a variety of Career Development awards (K awards), including the K99/R00 Pathway to Independence Award (US and non-US citizens).
