Deconstruction of White Supremacy in Leadership Disruption of Dominate Racial History in the U.S.
Effective leadership requires a myriad of skills and knowledge. While varied at times, there are some generally agreed upon areas that have been researched, investigated, and are commonly included in leadership workshops, skill building, and educational activities. This presentation seeks to highlight the importance of understanding the role of white supremacy’s influence on leadership through the examination of “traditional” historical injustice narratives and their contributions to white centered leadership. Utilizing historical injustices of communities of color in the United States, this presentation will provide participants with a new context in which to view history, its impact on current day conditions, and how we engage in leadership.
