Princess Diana’s Tragic Death

princess-diana-death-headlinesNo matter how many years go by, the tragic death of Princess Diana will always be remembered. The publicly declared reasonings behind her death though, have been questioned. Princess Diana died in a car crash in Paris with her boyfriend and the driver on August 31, 1997. The media pinned the blame on the paparazzi. Later it was concluded that their chauffeur, Henri Paul, was drunk and driving at high speed when he hit a pillar in the Pont de l’Alma, which ultimately killed them.

Now that we have the back-story, let’s get to the conspiracies. One theory claims that the Princess was assassinated; possibly at the instigation of the Royal Family or the British Intelligence services. This is believed because it is said that Diana was pregnant with her Muslim boyfriend’s, Dodi, baby.

A more recent controversy came out in August of last year. The claim came from the parents-in-law of a British Special Forces sniper after his marriage ended. A seven page handwritten letter was sent to military authorities and London police saying that the soldier had bragged to his wife that the elite British Special Air Service commando unit was behind the deaths of the Princess, her boyfriend, and their chauffeur.

Another: In 2003 The Daily Mirror reported that 10 months before Princess Diana died, she wrote to her butler Paul Burrell stating that her life was at its most dangerous phase. She warned him of a plot to tamper with the brakes of her car.

One more of the many theories indicated that the couple was planning on announcing their engagement. Mohamed al Fayed, Dodi’s father, publicly accused Prince Phillip, Diana’s former father-in-law, of arranging the couple’s murder. Prince Phillip testified in the 2007 investigations.express040407

  1. I agree with what a lot of people are saying: when someone famous dies, the more enticing the idea of conspiracies and assassinations become. I didn’t know much about Princess Diana other than she was a huge inspiration to so many people and that it was a huge tragedy that she was killed.

  2. I don’t think Diana is as prominent a figure in our generation, but I know my mom’s generation really idolized her. She was an incredibly powerful figure in her time and symbolized different things to different people. It makes sense that after touching so many lives, popular speculation about her death is common. I haven’t heard all of these theories, some were very interesting!

  3. I have never followed the death of Princess Diana, but your blog gave a lot of insight into it. Maybe we should just forget about all the rumors, but it’s still interesting to consider all of the possibilities. I guess people in general just enjoy gossiping and such. If I had to pick what I thought happened to her, I would say the car crash.

  4. I don’t follow the royal family in the slightest, but as is the case with many high profile deaths, there will always be speculation in regards to their death. Its typical that so many conspiracies came out of this death considering it was such a freak accident, but I tend to shy away from pledging any allegiance to conspiracy theories and accept the bear facts: The person is dead and it’s a tragedy.

  5. Honestly, I think this happens because she was famous. When someone is famous everyone makes a big deal about it because the cause of the death was really unsure. It’s just a bunch of people that make up nonsense.

  6. It’s really interesting to see all of the theories behind her death. Personally I’m not sure I really believe any of them. I think her death was from the drunk driving. However it is entertaining to see what people come up with. Some of them are more creative than fact based, but that’s what makes them so attractive!
