Dear Jen Jones,
In my opinion, you did an amazing job with this contribution. Your work looks awesome. It is so neat and easy to read. I love your bullet points, as this is much easier to read the most important information, you’ve left out what really does not matter.
Very interesting is that no matter what part of the world we are living in, we can see that disability is looked down upon and handled in many of the same ways. I am so interested in seeing where all of this started. Why are people so afraid of disability/people with a disability? My thoughts are that we have done such a great job of hiding from disability, now we know nothing about it, so all we do is assume.

Hi Jen! Your post was informative and interesting. I was surprised to read that Italy has seven different climate systems. I was also surprised to learn that despite the benefits that Italy offers there is still stigma against people with disabilities. I was shocked to read that 2 % of Italians report going to school with a disabled person and only 4 % work with one. I wonder if that means that inclusion is low. I look forward to learning more about Italy.

Jen,
The information you found is very extensive, it really helps to create a clear picture of Italy and its views on disability. I think it is really awesome how much tax relief and financial support Italy provides individuals with disabilities. I think that the definition of disability in Italy is quite strange, the first part of it describing what constitutes a disability is broad and inclusive, but the effects that they are required to cause “difficulties in learning, relationships or work integration, and which leads to a process of social disadvantage or marginalization” is actually kind of narrow. The stigma around disability in Italian culture seems as though it is very high despite the government being so supportive of individuals with disabilities. Do you think this is something that would change over time, generationally?
