People of Outside Philly: 2

Hannah Radi

If you have not read the first installment of this little series, here it is. Like I said in that post, this is clearly a parody of the Humans of New York blog, except this is not in first person point of view.

So here we go with our second person who hails from outside Philly. Hannah Radi was one of my best friends in high school. She is two years younger than me, but we met while playing tennis for our school, Lansdale Catholic High School. You know how sometimes, you just instantly become friends with someone? We became so close, so fast, that even now we wonder what our first conversation was like, or when the first time we hung out was. It’s crazy the way life happens sometimes.

Anyways, Hannah is one of the funniest people I know, and she’s so much fun to be around. She was born July 17, 2001 in Lansdale, PA; so she’s sixteen. She’s about to get her license, but who knows. This season, she was the second singles player for the Varsity tennis team, and helped the team win another Philadelphia Catholic League AA championship and  District 12 AA championship. She was also a co-captain (something usually reserved for seniors), despite being only a junior.

That’s the thing about her: she has the unique ability to make a joke out of everything, but still take it seriously at the same time. It sounds dumb, it sounds stupid. But let me try to explain. Our tennis team at school, it was small and everyone was super close. Also, our coach was crazy and easy to make fun of because she was weird (haha sorry Coach). The point is, tennis was fun. Every practice, every game, every fundraiser, every training session, it was just so much fun- and Hannah was always one of the girls telling the jokes. Even during games, we would all still crack jokes, especially Hannah. Her favorite one was an impression of one of the teachers in school, who was too peppy too often.

Hannah never missed a practice, or game, or fundraiser, or training session. She never talked down on the team to other people, and she never let anyone forget that the girls’ tennis team was more successful than any other sport at our school in the past ten years, winning the PCL AA title virtually every year.

She doesn’t know what she wants to study in college, or what career path to follow, or even what classes she’ll take her senior year of high school. But, whatever she chooses, she’ll quickly gain respect and make friends while doing it.

we won districts, yay!

That one time when we bought pretzels for the team. Philly Soft Pretzels by the way- the best.

  1. I’ve had a friend like that too, who you instantly become friends with. It’s a really cool experience to have with someone, because after a whole, it seems like you’ve been friends for decades, but it’s really only been six months. I like your style of writing as well as your content. I can tell you are passionate about your hometown.
