Quick Thoughts on Holiday & Theme Day Content

As a social media manager, I don’t post theme day content often. For our organization, it comes off as impersonal and can be seen as generic. I say this but of course for the usual holidays, like Christmas, New Year, and a couple of other holidays we do make text posts. But when we are able, I prefer to make the posts more personal. Rather than posting a graphic with text that says, “Happy Earth Day,” I would rather create a post that shows what my organization does. Earth Day is a perfect example of how I would make a post for a theme day.

When I asked my manager at EducationUSA Canada if she had any content in mind, she recommended one of the students she advised previously, who will be graduating soon. She sent me a TedX video of the time he made a presentation about “How Leftovers Could Fuel Your Car.”

It was the perfect opportunity to post and share what real Canadian students are doing while studying in the United States

I acquired a photo from his TedX video and wrote a post for Earth Day. This can be seen below.
