What previous internship(s) or work experience do you have?

Throughout my undergrad years, I was fortunate enough to have many internship experiences. For my first internship, I worked for Pratt & Whitney as a Structures Engineer. Being a Structures Engineer, I had the opportunity to analyze various components of commercial jet engines. After Pratt & Whitney, I transitioned to an Energy Management internship and worked with Siemens in Atlanta, Georgia.  At Siemens, I focused on quality control projects and supported Siemens factories in Canada, the United States, and Mexico. For my final internship, I worked with Hilti as a Field Engineer intern. The role enabled me to develop an understanding of the construction and building design industry.  Specifically, I worked with engineers and architects to implement Hilti solutions into the design of a structure. Each internship was a rewarding experience that enhanced my early career.

Why did you choose to pursue an MOL degree?

Choosing to pursue the MOL degree was a simple decision for me. During my first internship, I often questioned whether I wanted to become an engineer. I enjoyed certain aspects of engineering, but always had a passion for business and working with people. I wanted a position to combine engineering and business. From that point on, I knew I would eventually pursue a Masters in Business. The MOL program provided the perfect time to pursue a Masters degree and a platform to use both engineering and business.

What has been your favorite aspect of the Smeal MOL degree thus far?

My favorite aspect of the Smeal MOL degree has been learning about finance. It is fascinating to learn how companies make investment and project decisions as well as learning how to personally invest for the future. The course provided a solid foundation to the world of finance and has been a staple of the program for me.

What are your career goals and how will this MOL degree set you up to achieve those goals?

After having a variety of career experiences, I will begin my career as a Sales Engineer. The MOL degree, combined with my Mechanical Engineering background, will give me the tools to make business decisions within a technical field. I am thankful to have the MOL background before entering the full-time workforce.

What is an interesting fact about you that we would not find on your resume?

When I was younger, I had the opportunity to play soccer over in Scotland. Playing for the Maryland Olympic Development team, we toured throughout Scotland and competed against many Scottish clubs. It was an unforgettable experience that I still reminisce about today.
