Hi, I’m Suhas!

I’m a third-year Ph.D. candidate in the College of Information Sciences & Technology (IST) at Penn State. I work on the intersection of Machine Learning, Human-Computer Interaction, and Healthcare, and I’m fortunate to be advised by Dr. Saeed Abdullah.

Previously, in 2021, I defended my Master’s thesis in Electrical Engineering, which focused on developing privacy-preserving methods for assessing depression using speech signal processing. [Thesis], [Slides]

I have had the opportunity to work on several exciting projects, including using sensor networks to prevent train derailments and using audio signal processing to identify neurological disorders. You can learn more about these projects here.

I’m originally from Bangalore, India. In my free time, I enjoy playing cricket, creating intricate rhythmic patterns on the mridangam, watching football (I’m a huge Chelsea fan!), taking landscape photographs, and speedcubing.
