Welcome to Towards a More Inclusive Science (TaMIS)
We organize monthly meetings to discuss topics involving justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion in the sciences and work as a community to catalyze changes in teaching, mentoring, and research practices to make a more inclusive Penn State.
Whether you want to share your experiences, learn from the experiences of others, or advocate for inclusivity, TaMIS is a space where your voice matters. Join us as we work together to build a more inclusive and equitable science community at PSU.
About TaMIS
Created as an offshoot of Towards a More Inclusive Astronomy (TaMIA), TaMIS is a forum for discussions about and advancing ideas around making the sciences at Penn State more just, equitable, diverse, and inclusive. Check out the TaMIA website for more information on the roots of this project!
Our Mission
We aim to:
- Provide support for those who have experienced pushback in life based on who they are, where they come from, what they believe in, or how they look, sound, speak, hear, think, move, feel, or understand the world.
- Learn more as a community about the experiences of underrepresented voices.
- Through discussion and action, serve as a catalyst for changes to teaching, mentoring and research practices that will lead to more inclusive sciences.
Join the Conversation
We host monthly discussion groups focusing on specific topics related to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion (JEDI) in the sciences. Check out our full schedule of topics and join us in opening up the discussion on JEDI issues in the sciences at PSU.
