For my Ted Talk I’m going to focus on the anti-vax movement.
For the introduction I am going to use some popular memes as a way to introduce the topic to the students in a funny and relatable way. Then, I will introduce the idea of vaccines and how they have helped advance modern medicine and make the life span of the average person longer.
My main ideas are going to be first how the anti-vax movement isn’t a new idea, it has actually existed for a long time. Ever since the emergence of vaccines there have been multiple movements to stop the use of vaccines for one reason or another.
The second main idea would be explaining the fake study that linked Autism to vaccines and how that has led to the emergence of the new anti-vax movement. I will talk about how this has been disproved multiple times yet the idea is still supported despite the lack of facts.
The third and final main idea will be to see how we can educate people on the importance of vaccines and how we can change the anti-vaxxers minds’.
This is a really interesting topic. The anti-vax movement seems to be becoming more and more popular in certain areas in the US. I think it would be interesting to talk about how people are reacting to this and how it is being addressed. Good luck!
This topic is really important and current. I actually know a girl from my high school who is a grade younger than me that just started to get homeschooled her senior year because she wasn’t vaccinated. She wasn’t allowed to go to the nurse or use the school’s bathroom. It is a really interesting argument with many different standpoints and should be interesting to discuss.
I find this really interesting! I feel that this topic is really popular now, and it definitely will continue to be in debate over time. It is crazy to see how college campuses require so many vaccines! This was really stressful when preparing to come here. Best of luck!
