The construction of the tunnel in 1987 and it was completed in 1994, it is considered one of the most complicated structures in the area of civil engineering in the 20th century. It has a total capacity of 600 trains each war per day. The construction of the tunnel took place at a rate of 250 feet per day by using tunnel boring machines that are like large cylinders with a length of two football fields.
