We are delighted to announce that the Global Asias Initiative has been awarded a $120,000 grant from the Henry Luce Foundation in support of projects related to Global Asias: Method | Architecture | Praxis, a book series (co-edited by Tina Chen and Charlotte Eubanks) published by University of Hawai’i Press.

This grant will support three initiatives related to the series:

Open Access

OA publishing is critical to disseminating scholarly research, especially to colleagues at underfunded institutions and in the Global South. We are working with the University of Hawai’i Press on ensuring that the series is accessible to a more global audience, especially in Asia, through OA publishing.

Project Development

Grant funds will support manuscript mentoring workshops and Tactics and Theories for a Global Asias Praxis, our inaugural volume, created in part during Global Asias Summer Institute 2022.

Global Asias Outreach

To develop a critical conversation with our colleagues working in Asia, we are planning two international Global Asias workshops. We will partner with programs/universities in Asia to sponsor versions of GAI’s Summer Institute and through such projects, draw new Asia-based colleagues into this emerging field.

We look forward to sharing more information about these projects in the coming months.
