Wait, what? Yes, you read that right. I have been streaking since January 1st and I’d like to share what I have learned so far. But first, some context. At the end of 2017, I challenged myself to run every single day of 2018. In the running world, a streak is where one runs at least one mile every single day. When I caught wind of “running streaks”, I needed in. Not realizing what I was getting myself into, I embarked on this 365-day long streak with a smile on my face and a pantry full of laundry detergent (you wouldn’t believe how often I do laundry now…). Of course I can’t resist a good challenge, so 90 days, 487 miles, and 31,721 feet of elevation later, I’ve learned three things. Here they are:

  1. Resiliency—your mind will break before your body.
  2. Be proactive, not reactive.
  3. Be selfish.
