Arts in Health is here to support you and to help you decompress. Here are options for you to explore the wonders of creativity and the arts in our institution.
Art for Wellness Workshops: Professional teaching artists lead art workshops for patients at home using common household items, and maintaining accessibility for all abilities – offered via Zoom, by request.
Musical Videos:
Uplifting music videos from our local musicians.
Medical students recorded short videos for our patients in the hospital.
Live Music in Lobbies: Professional musicians of a variety of genres and instruments play cheerful and reflective music in numerous clinical and family areas.
Lunch with Center Stage: Summer lunchtime concert series in our outdoor courtyard, featuring local professional ensembles including jazz, classical, soft rock music and more. Check back in May for our 2021 performance schedule!
Arts Repository: Curated list of arts engagements to enjoy from work or home.
Art Care: We offer PSCI physicians, nurses, and inpatient staff an adjusted workshop model that includes live music, chair massage, and a short art-making project for them to enjoy a period of relaxation during their shifts.
Signs of Encouragement: Center Stage commissioned artists to create images that exude messages of hope, encouragement and gratitude that we display on signs outside at all four driveway entrances to our medical center to show gratitude and support for our front line workers as they arrive on campus for work and as they leave at the end of a shift. This is an especially tense time for our nurses, physicians, therapists, cleaners, food services folks and all the other employees keeping our hospital running. And yet they arrive at work every day with courage and smiles, ready for what is coming.
Rotating Art Exhibits: Community art organizations share work created by their members. Paintings are displayed in various clinical and family areas. Artists’ work is for sale.
Commissioned Art: Our Public Art Committee chooses commissioned art work designed to enhance the environment of clinical and public areas. We are proud of the work that inspires our whole community and establishes a tangible connection between humanities and medicine. Take a break today and enjoy our Self-guided Art Walking Tour, click here for more details.
Murals: Our Coordinator for Artistic Enhancement Betsy Fallat creates murals in clinical and family areas.
Digital Greetings: Center Stage Arts in Health created Lion’s Eye slides using our art by regional artists paired with uplifting quotes and messages of gratitude for our health care community. They are part of the constant cycle adding an element of artful beauty.

Attack Theatre has been making critically acclaimed dance for 25 years, uniting artists and audiences through the process and production of personal, accessible and collaborative dance-based performance. Attack Theatre combines modern dance, original live music, multimedia and interdisciplinary art forms to present work to diverse audiences in traditional and non-traditional spaces in Pittsburgh, throughout the United States, and around the world.
Attack Theatre’s arts in education programs utilize movement and dance to enhance problem solving and critical analysis skills, build interdisciplinary connections, cultivate communication and cooperation skills, explore abstract thinking, develop self-confidence, promote healthy living, explore the creative process, and create a deeper understanding of dance as an art form.
